Uganda and South Africa were tied on three rounds (8-8) ,(3-3) and (6-6).
The tournament diced off on 27th September and it culminated on 30th September.
A total of Sixteen teams participated at the continental showpiece and the teams include; Uganda ,South Africa, Cote D’ivore ,Nigeria , Zambia ,Mozambique, Mauritius , Togo ,Cameroon ,Zimbabwe, Lesotho , Namibia, Eritrea ,Malawi Madagascar and Egypt.
In the Individual tournament ,Uganda managed to fetch two gold medals from Mubiru Emmanuel who was in group G and Nagadya Beth who was in group D.
Other winners include Thomas and Karabo from South Africa
Uganda Doves player Mubiru Emmanuel was crowned MVP of the tournament.
The second edition was graced by the introduction of the female categories that were played in Durban on 27th and 28th September and the female teams included South Africa, Cote D’ivore ,Zambia ,Nigeria and Mozambique. Uganda didn’t participate in the females category after failing to have the minimum number of participants for the categories.
South African female National team Bafana Queens won the female categories.
The awarding ceremony was done by Kalule Hussein the Africa Ludo Federation president and the ALF General Secretary Joe Matheta.
Speaking at the awarding ceremony, Kalule Hussein the ALF president stressed that ALF is going to do more sensitization to have more countries affiliated to the continental governing bodies.
“I would like to take this opportunity and thank the Federations presidents , players ,teams ,coaches and our hosts Ludo South Africa for this wonderful tournament. Congratulations to Uganda upon defending the AL-CON title its a big achievement.
“Moving forward we are going to engage Minsters from different countries in Africa so that we can have more countries get affiliated to the ALF and our target is covering atleast 85% of the continent because the game is widely spread but we are going to embark on more sensitization ” said Kalule
The ALF General Secretary Joe Matheta who is also the President of Ludo South Africa thanked all those who made it to the tournament and Uganda for defending the tournament.
