Uganda’s Nansana Galaxy wins title on goal difference
Nansana Galaxy are the Champions of the 2022 Uganda National Ludo Super League and they claimed their latest trophy in dramatic fashion on a colourful event on Thursday 15th November 2022 at Tinka Pub in Nansana which is the hosting venue.
They won the title by the skin of the teeth on match day 22 after going level on points with Masaka Giants who have been exciting this season with.
Both teams collected 38 points but Nansana Galaxy held a commanding seven goal advantage on the tie – breaking goal difference.
It’s a day that no Masaka Giants players and fans will ever forget after leading the table on several occasions.
The league diced off on 27th March 2022 in Kireka where 12 teams were battling to become the winners of this season.
The awarding ceremony was graced by the President of the Uganda Ludo Federation Mr Kalule Hussein who is also the President of The Africa Ludo Federation and Vice President of the International Ludo Federation.
“Am so happy that the league has ended on a high but next season I argue every team to look to sponsorships. Some federation leaders are trying to fight us but we will stay focused because we ‘re winners Africa and World Champions.” He said in his closing remarks.
The federation President shared with the teams and urged everyone to fully participate in all the undertakings of the federation there after he declared the end of the calendar for 2022 by wishing everyone a peaceful and jolly festive season.
Since 2017 , the league has been won on the last day and no club has gave away points easily in the names of not showing up for a match day.
Kireka Kisansa and Kazo hill were relegated to League one while Gulu city Ludo club and Kiboga Ludo club are the two teams who will be dicing in the top flight come next year.
Four more teams from the championship will be promoted to the top flight making it 16 teams next season with a home and away fixture.
Nansana Galaxy the champion went with a trophy, medals plus a cash prize of 4,000,000, runners up Masaka Giants (2nd position) with a cash prize of 1,500,000-plus medals followed with Ntinda United in the 3 position who scored 35 points went away with a cash prize of 500,000-plus medals.
Mutebi Arthur from Nansana Galaxy was the (Most Vulnerable Player-MVP) while on the other hand Kasujja Frank the captain of Busega United emerged the league too scorer with 87 goals to his name.
