Debutants Uganda Doves claimed the 2022 World Ludo Championship after walloping Pakistan 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon in Dubai.
The two days tournament which diced off on Tuesday 29th November 2022 with twelve nations, saw Nepal, Pakistan, Uganda, and Bangladesh reaching the semi-finals which were played in Dubai City.
Despite the travel uncertainties in the doves camp due to lack of funds from the National Council of Sports , the Uganda Doves continued to fly the Ugandan Flag up high as they continued to show their master of class at Semi finals and finals in Dubai .
The Doves managed to score 16 goals in the entire tournament Opening their account with a 3-1 victory over Saudi Arabia in their opening group A fixture, drew 2-2 with Pakistan ,later keeping a clean sheet 4-0 against United Arab Emirates.
Onto the semi final stages,Uganda cruised with ease past Bangladesh in a 4-0 victory the team that had topped group B with 7 points.
Uganda Doves beat Pakistan 3-1 on the finals to be crowned World Champions.
The Doves were unbeaten but his took the efforts of the experienced players like Emma Mubiru and Nagadya Beth who had played and won in the same city a couple of years back.
Experienced Emma Mubiru, Nagaddya and Matovu H, represented their clubs last year in Pretoria south Africa.
The closing and award ceremonies, were presided over by Mr Alfad Mohammed, the chairman of the local organizing committee who is also the Federation president, alongside Kalule Husein the ILF Vice President on behalf of Mr. Bhagwan Prasad Sahu, ILF President.
Uganda and South Africa were the only representatives from African continent.
The group stages of the tournament were played in Nepal while the semi finals and finals were played in Dubai.
