Junior Students in South Africa turnedup in large numbers to play at the Inaugural South Africa Ludo for Schools tournament.
South Africa is the second giant on the African continent after Uganda in the top spot.
The Ludo for Schools tournament consists of two categories ; Juniors (for Primary Schools ) and seniors (for secondary schools).
South Africa has joined the likes of Ivory Coast who have also diced off the inaugural tournament while on the other hand countries like Nigeria and Uganda are shifting gears to dice off the tournament in their respective countries.
In an interview with Africa Ludo Federation Media ,
Hussein Kalule President of the Africa Ludo Federation (ALF) who also serves as President of Uganda Ludo Federation(ULF) and Vice President International Ludo Federation(ILF) shared his thoughts saying.
“Am happy that some countries like South Africa and Ivory Coast have already conducted the inaugural Ludo For Schools tournament. The tournament is a pathway of grooming a young generation of players who will compete at all levels. Ludo is a mind game that involves laying strategies and this helps in improving on the thinking capability of students. It’s the first time this is happening and as the ALF President i will do everything in my capacity for this tournament to be a success.”
He added, “As for Uganda where I am also the President of game , we are ranked number one in Africa and the whole world and as a result we aim at being the best in all Ludo For Schools competitions at all stages. Preparations for the qualifiers and nationals are in the pipeline .The nationals will climax in October 2024.”
The two qualifying schools (Primary and secondary ) at the national level will represent respective countries at a continental level in 2024.
Those that will emerge victorious at the continental will represent Africa at an International level in Ludo competitions in 2024 organised by the international Ludo Federation.
