2023 National Ludo Super League end of first round review

With Super Thursday bringing down the curtain on the first round of the 2023 National Ludo Super League , we take a look at the success stories and the shortcomings.

Now the dust has settled on the first round of the 2023 National Ludo Super League , we can look back at what has been a unique first round.

Buyende United are on top of the table after claiming 23 points ,Masaka Giants in the second place with 21 points and Ntinda United in third place with 20 points ,in 13 match days.

The 2023 National Ludo Super League diced off on Sunday ,19th March with seven games at different venues unlike last season where teams used to converge at the same venue for a match day.

Unlike in the previous season were had 12 teams, The 2023 National Ludo Super League has been made up of 14 teams.

The first round has been so competitive with different teams claiming the top position at the end of every match day and no team has failed to turn up for a match day.

Debutants
Gulu City , Kiboga Young and Metal are the league debutants .Kiboga Young has claimed the 8 position ( 16 points) ,Gulu City in 10th position (14 points) and Metal in 12th position with 14 points all accumulated in 13 games.

Defending Champions
Having won the 2022 National Ludo Super League, Nansana Galaxy came into this season with an aim of defending their title but as far as the first round in concerned , Nansana Galaxy have been a shadow of them selves finishing in 13th position with 13 points.

Holiganism and indiscipline 

The National Ludo Super League Organising committee chaired by Miss Nabbuma Teddy at the Uganda Ludo Federation head offices in Nansana finally ruled on Ntinda Untied’s holiganism that was exhibited during match day nine (9) against Kazo Hill Ludo Club.

During the mouthwatering clash at Top Nortch Ntinda Kisaasi Rd , Ntinda United players Mugabi Peter (Captain) and Moses Karamagi attacked the referee Odur Alex and beat up a Kazo United fan.

Ntinda United were sanctioned and three points were deducted from them plus playing 5 home games behind closed doors outside of Ntinda.

Mean while ,the club was fined a fee of Uganda shillings 400,000 ,players Moses Karamagi and Mugabi Peter were fined Uganda Shillings 150,000 each after being found guilty from the video footage.

The Ntinda United duo of Moses Karamagi and Mugabi Peter were suspended from all Ludo activities for a period of Five match days as an appropriate corrective measure for their misconduct against a Kazo Hill player.

In the same breath, Nansana All Stars were awarded three points while Basajja Bayiiya Ludo Club were deducted one point.

Basajja Bayiiya Ludo Club lost a point

The National Ludo Super League organising committee sanctioned Basajja Bayiiya Ludo Club for fielding a player twice as a substitute during match day five (5).

The National Ludo Super Organising committee dismissed Nakawa Market and Gulu City case.

The National Ludo Super League Organising committee dismissed the the case of Nakawa Market against Gulu City on fielding a player Shafik Dduka (Gulu City) who was alleged to have received a red card on 7/05/2023. During that day, their was no game played since the club excetives and officials were in a closed door meeting with the Uganda Ludo Federation President Hussein Kalule.

Kubbiri Ludo Club Fined

Kubbiri Ludo club were fined Uganda Shillings 100,000 for not using their official Jersey’s during match day seven (7) when they visited debutants Kiboga Young.

Buloba A head coach suspended over professional misconduct

The National Ludo Super League Organising committee suspended Buloba A head coach Wandyaka Ronald over defamation of the Uganda Ludo Federation on 7th/05/2023 , after saying that “The Uganda Ludo Federation sits on a bench under a tree to set the rules and regulations that govern the game of Ludo in Uganda.

Wandyaka was Fined Uganda Shillings 100,000 and banned for a period of four match days and stepping foot at any venue during the above match days.

In an interview, The President of The Uganda Ludo Federation extended his gratitude to the teams and players .

“First of all I would love to thank GOD for enabling us have a wonderful first round that has been so competitive and I would also love to thank the players ,coaches and club officials because it’s not easily to manage a team in the top flight. Next season we expect the more games to be broadcasted live on Tv and i urge all players to kept discipline because as ULF discipline is paramount”. Said Hussein Kalule The President Uganda Ludo Federation.

The second round of the 2023 National Ludo Super League will dice off on Thursday 22nd ,June 2023.
