UGANDA : How Matovu and Nagadya got to the Top Seeds first class category in Uganda ?

The technical team of the Uganda Ludo Federation on Tuesday 1st August 2023 , released the player rankings for the First, Second, Third, and Women’s classes.

Performances in national, continental, and international events from 2019 to 2023 formed the basis for the rankings.

Matovu Huzaifah topped the rankings and he was followed by Nagadya Beth.

According to the statistics ,  Matovu Huzaifah competed in 8 competitions ; 6 National ,1 continental and 1 international level. While on the other hand , Nagadya beth participated in 10 competitions; 7 national , 2 Continental and 1 at the international Level.

In 2019, he helped Kings Ludo Club, a league newcomer, to a fourth-place finish.

With 43 goals to his name, Matovu won the top scorer award for the same season.

In the 19th Individual Ludo Championship, Matovu placed second.

2021
In 2021, Matovu Huzaifah was named captain of the National team Uganda Doves, which went on to win the Africa Ludo Cup of Nations in South Africa (AL-CON).

After defeating the top-seeded player in South Africa and Africa, Thabang Mokalapa, Matovu was crowned the winner of the AL-CON tournament.

He also helped his club Masaka Giants  compete in the 2021 Africa Ludo Club Championship qualifiers. 

Matovu played a significant role in recruiting the Masaka Giants Ludo Club to the Uganda National Ludo Super League the same year.

Following his magnificent performances in the UNSL, he was crowned MVP.

2022
Matovu captained the Masaka Giants in 2022, and they finished as runners-up. Nansana Galaxy won the League on goal differential.

Matovu’s leadership was crucial to the Uganda Doves team’s success in winning the World Cup in Dubai and Nepal. At the competition, the Uganda Doves made their debut.

Beth Nadagya

Nagadya participated in the Women’s League in 2019 and helped Kawempe Club win the championship.

2021
Nagadya joined Nansana Galaxy in 2021, and after a stellar performance, she was named the female MVP. She also helped the team win the Africa Club Championship in Dubai.

Earlier on , Nagadya was unpayable in the qualifiers of the 2021 Africa Club Ludo Championship.

The Uganda Doves team that won the AL-CON included Nadagya, who was also voted the female MVP of the competition.

Additionally, in 2022, Nagadya was a member of the Uganda Doves squad that competed in and ultimately won the 2022 Ludo World Cup.

Nagadya was chosen as the overall MVP after her outstanding efforts.

Nadagya contributed to Nansana Galaxy’s National Ludo Super League championship that same year.

In order to rank the top player in Africa, the names of those in the first class category will be submitted to the Africa Ludo Federation together with those of players from other African nations.

The International Ludo Federation will receive the names of the 10 players who qualified for the First Class category at the African level, and they will be competing for a seat on the international team.
