The highly competitive 2021 Ludo league had a total of 16 elite teams and only 15 games with no return legs were played. While Ntinda and the Galaxies were pouting, it was all jubilation as Kireka were handed their first ever league title in the Ludo history of Uganda national league.
For the first time in the history of this league, Kisansa Kireka was declared the 2021 the Uganda national Ludo league champion. The Jinja road based Kireka lads only needed a draw to keep the Afro-champions galaxies in the second position. The Kireka lads collected 27 points, Nansana Galaxy 26 points while Ntinda market made 24points in their debut league appearence.
In a Nakawa district Debby, Ntinda needed a win against nakawa market to secure the second place.
Dembe Vegas, Silversports, Nakawa Market, and Entebbe Gerenge are the three relegated teams, while three more will be promoted in the forthcoming district playoffs early next year.
The Bbikka, YMCA, Womens, and the individual championships are among the 2021-Championships shed off due to Covid-19 lock downs.
Kirumira Moses, from Kisansa, went home with the league’s most valuable player accolade, while the former champions Kamwokya corner had Kasumba Paul as the top scorer. Game veterans, Kazo hill had Nakimboowa Joanita declared the best fest female ludo player of the year 2021.
All efforts now face the 2021 – Afro-Ludo Events to be held in South Africa this November as the national team call-ups will be announced anytime from now. Other countries expected in the 2021 – Afro-Ludo Events, include Egypt, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, South Africa and Uganda
