The Ludo National League is set to commence this Sunday 6th June 2021, since 2019, at Magic Round Nansana, when Kamwokya Corner picks on their title defense which was stalled by Covid-19 across the 2020 sports-year-calendar. Sixteen teams will pick up the mantles to fight for the long awaited championship. Kamwokya did notrepresent Uganda in the recently concluded Africa club championship, because they did not qualify through the December 2020, playoffs and that their chances as top contenders of the wildcard as earlier proposed by the local federation were flattered by their own discipline levels shortly after their elimination then.
As defending champion they will face clubs like Buloba and Galaxy who have acquired national and international experience, alongside the fact that some of their players transferred to other clubs. Galaxy, the continental champion, have a Mubiru Emma – Nagadya Beth super duo combination of who without any substitutes tormented the rest of the African clubs at the Dubai ALCC-21. Playing against the ALCC semifinalist, Kamwokya will base on their new recruit Lubogo, from Silversport though as opposed to missing services of the reigning league MVP-Kasozi Tom who crossed over to Kings Ludo club who play the based Kireka -Kisansa LC.
This year’s version of play will be a single round with no return leg and will be held at the same venue in order to control the spread of Covid-19 under observed SOPs. Without fans, and but with a few registered members of the press, all games will dice off at Magic Round Nansana at 10:00am. The federation has urged all players/arbiters to have taken, at-worst, their first Covid-19 immunization jab.
The winners will represent Uganda in the next ALCC, while a perfect team will be selected to carry Uganda’s national flag in August 2021 in Mamelodi South Africa.
The first game-fixtures will see Buloba/Ntinda, Busega/Kamwokya, Kwagala/Nakawa, Homies/Gerenge, Kireka/Kings, Silversport/Kazo, Dembe/Allstars, Bassajja/Galaxy.
