UGANDA : Uganda Doves off to South Africa for Africa Ludo Cup of Nations

Uganda are the defending Champions.

The team was  flagged off on Tuesday by the Uganda Ludo Federation President Hussein Kalule at the Entebbe International Airport.

Seven players have travelled to South Africa.

While speaking to the press , Kalule stressed on the teams financial struggles going into the tournament.

“It’s so sad that most of our players didn’t manage to raise their own funds to travel with the team to South Africa.”said Kalule

He added “To the players I urge you to play with all your heart and forget the struggles we have been through in terms of finances ahead of this competition .Let us give our money value by defending our title.”

“we still have hope that government will send us money while in South Africa” he said

Uganda will not be playing in the women’s categories at the tournament after failing to meet the minimum number of female players

Sixteen countries will be be taking part at the tournament.

In the whole world , Uganda is ranked as the World’s best Ludo playing Nation

A brief History about Uganda ahead of the 2023 AL-CON Tournament.

In 2021 Uganda Doves played at the inaugural Africa Ludo Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Uganda beat South Africa to win the inaugural continental showpiece.

Motovu Huzaifah the Uganda Doves Captain was crowned MVP of the tournament. In the finals Matovu defeated South Africa’s and Africa’s top-seeded player Thabong Mokalapa in the South African two dice version.

Nagadya Beth was unplayable at the tournament ,she was named the female MVP of the tournament.
